Composer Daniel McCallum
​Daniel Clive McCallum is an internationally awarded composer for film, advertisement, and concert music.
 
Born in Australia, Daniel grew up studying music from an early age. By the time he was 13, Daniel left normal high school to further his musical education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He graduated in 2007 and was awarded a full scholarship to study composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Throughout these earlier years Daniel acquired a strong foundation of musical skills, allowing him to work flexibly in various musical fields.​
 
​​His natural musical voice and flexibility of style & timbre has allowed him to write for many different events & occasions, resulting in several prominent commissions both national and internationally from such organizations as; Ars Musica Australis, The Warringah City Council, Chronology Arts, The Royal Academy of Music, CHAOS, Choir & Organ Magazine (Cambridge) & Imagine a Spectacle Production to name just a few.

His music has been recorded and performed at numerous venues including; the South Bank Center (London), Abbey Road Studios, the Sydney Opera House, Eugenes Goossens Hall (Sydney), Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Dukes Hall (London), MLC (Sydney), Round House Studios (London), Webster University concert hall & the Historic Houses Trust (Sydney).
 
In 2012, Daniel was hired straight out of University by Howard Shore to work on the feature film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. At the end of 2012, Daniel moved to Los Angeles to work as a freelance composer & orchestrator. Two years later, Daniel married his wife Virginia Rockwell; both currently work in the film and media music industry.
 
Alongside film and concert music, Daniel has built relationships working with various Rock and Pop artists including; Imogeon Heap, Guy Chambers, Terraplane Sun, Richard Flack, and members of the band Bad Finger. Most recently, two separate film scores orchestrated by Daniel won best original score and best original song at the 2016 Goya Awards in Spain (known informally as “the Spanish Oscars”).
 
Daniel also recently completed the orchestration for the new 2016 Summer Olympic Games theme, recorded by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Australia. The theme will air worldwide on ESPN this August.
